Jim Frome and his Old Abe teammates captured the school's first Big Rivers Conference Championship in 1982-83 and also set the school record of 109 goals in a season, a record that stood for over 20 years. Their 16 wins were also the most for an Old Abe squad until 1999-2000. Frome was #3 on the Career scoring list when he completed his senior year. He scored seven goals in three games against North in '82-'83 and also netted a game-winner at Wausau West with eight seconds remaining. Frome is still in the Top 30 on the career scoring list at Memorial.
