Rick and his brothers, Dave and Mike, came to Eau Claire from Burnsville, Minnesota, in Rick's junior year. He became eligible at the semester break. Rick made the most of his one-and-a-half seasons, leading the Abes in scoring in 1992-93. His 19 assists at the time were the 5th-highest in a season at Memorial. Rick notched a hat trick against Fond du Lac on 12/30/92. Also in that game, he and Dave became the only brother combination to notch empty-net goals in the same game (16 seconds apart).
