"Battler" is the best word to
describe Jake. Whether it was battling to dig a puck out of the corner,
or doggedly backchecking an opponent, or coming back from a shoulder
injury in his junior season, Jake always found a way to get the job
done. He skated a regular shift
as a sophomore and scored his first varsity
goal in the intra-city game on 1/10/12. As a junior, his hard work
earned him a spot on the Abes' top line. He sustained a shoulder injury
at Rice Lake, but battled his way back onto the ice for the WIAA State
Tournament.
As a senior, Jake was a key contributor at both ends of the ice.
He notched 12 points and was also one of the Abes' best defensive
forwards.
Jake's dad, Gregg, played for Memorial in the late '80's.
