Aarin anchored the Abes' netminding corps in his senior year. He and Saxton Soley had a combined 1.37 GAA. In his first year as the Abes' #1 goaltender, Aarin posted a 15-win season. Only 4 Memorial goalies have ever had more. He also made 568 saves, 4th in school history. As a soph, Aarin combined with Brady Sand to break their own school record with 12 shutouts for the State Champion Old Abes. In his freshman year, the duo notched seven shutouts. Aarin got some State Tournament experience in 2007, playing the last three minutes of the win over Madison Memorial. "Scout's" twin brother, Shayne, was a 1st-Team All-State defenseman on the Abes squad. His father, Mickey McLaughlin, played for Memorial in the mid-70's. His younger brother, Tye, is now an Old Abe.
