Jim Roo took his first Old Abe team to the WIAA State Tournament. They also won the Big Rivers Conference Title. Roo's teams played at least four overtime games in each of his four seasons. He wound up with an 8-6-3 record in overtime games. Roughly 40% of the Abes' games during Roo's tenure were decided by one goal or less. It is probably fitting that he wound up with a career record of almost exactly .500.
Roo left Eau Claire to coach in the Twin Cities area and continued his career there for the next decade. His 2006-07 Coon Rapids Cardinals were 9-15-2. His 2007-08 team went 11-14-1. Roo resigned shortly before the start of the 2008-09 school year.
