Jeff Schemberger was a dominant defenseman at both ends of the ice. He led the Abes in scoring in 1989-90 and scored his 15th goal of the year, a school record for a defenseman at the time, in the WIAA State Semifinals against Superior. He had the most goals of any defenseman in Memorial High School history at the time of his graduation.
Jeff played college hockey for the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds from 1990-94. It was there he met friend and future "boss" Mike Schwengler, who was an All-American forward for the 'Golds.
As significant as "Schem's" on-ice contributions were, his coaching success has been just as stellar. As Mike Schwengler's top assistant, he is known for training the young blue liners for the Abes, and has been an integral part of the success of the "Purple" program in the past two decades. He has been named the Assistant Coach of the Year by the WHCA.
