Rich Smigaj (pronounced SMEE'-guy) backstopped the Old Abes to their first Big Rivers Conference Title in his senior year. His only losses came to Superior, Rice Lake, and two Minnesota teams. Smigaj holds the distinction of being the only Memorial goalie to beat North four times in one season.
