Sam
was voted Mr. Hockey in Wisconsin in his senior year. He and Zach
Urdahl led North to its first WIAA State Tournament appearance in
13 years. Sam is playing Junior Hockey this season and has already
committed to .play his college hockey at the University of Wisconsin.
Sam finished his high school career as North's all-time leading scorer.
He
earned 1st Team All-State Honors in each of his last two seasons.
Sam set the single season goal record in his junior season, breaking
Steve Blodgett's 37-year-old record (only to see it broken the
following year by Zach Urdahl). Sam scored one of his biggest goals in
his next-to-last game, a game-winner in the 2nd overtime that
sent the Huskies to State. Sam was also Class Valedictorian and a 4.0
student at North. His final athletic achievement was a 3-run home run
that won the WIAA State Baseball Tounament in Grand Chute.
Sam's brother, Zac Stange, was the team captain in 2016-17 and went on to play baseball at Winona State.
Sam
played his Junior hockey for Sioux City and Sioux Falls. He
is now playing for the Wisconsin Badgers. Find his current stats here.
