Joe Turk was not only an excellent hockey player who "saw" the ice well, but he was also one of the finest student athletes ever to wear the Columbia Blue and White. He went on to become the commanding officer of a Navy nuclear submarine. Turk's biggest goal was a game-winner in the first double-overtime game North played on December 27th, 1986. Turk's goal gave North coach Tom Kuklinski his 100th career win. Turk also scored a goal with 11 seconds left in an intra-city WIAA Tournament game on February 22nd, 1986, that sent the game into overtime. He also notched an overtime game-winner on February 12th, 1987, against Chippewa Falls.
